#Pinchflat2015 Events

April showers bring May's Pinchflat events. It's our 5th birthday this year and we want to celebrate with you.

This year's raffle includes close to $750 worth of goodies from Land Grant Brewing Company, Seventh Son Brewing Company, zerOz Wallets, CoGo, Verde Bikes, and more. We're also raffling off a bike to raise money for Yay Bikes!

Gallery Opening @ Wild Goose Creative

Noon-5pm

This family-friendly event is our kick off to a great day of bikes and art. Grab a bite to eat at Hungry Monkey Food Truck and a cup of coffee courtesy of Cafe Brioso.

Once you're well-fed and caffeinated, check out Shout Out Loud and Igloo Letterpress as they live screen print t-shirts and cards in the gallery. A neat process to witness, and a great souvenir to accompany your poster purchase.

We'll also have live music (artists TBA) throughout the day thanks to our friends at the Columbus Songwriter's Association.

Wild Goose Creative is located at 2491 Summit Street.

Gallery Hop @ Paradise Garage

6-11pm

The fun doesn't stop when the posters move. Make sure Paradise Garage is on your Short North Gallery Hop itinerary.

We'll have more snacks, a DJ, and of course, your local artists' prints for sale. PG is always a good time and a great way to kick off the month of sales at the store.

Paradise Garage is located at 921 N. High Street.

Join the Facebook event to stay in the loop as we share more details. It's the first weekend in May, the weather is always historically nice, and so are the people at Pinchflat. We hope to see you there!

Print Local

Submissions are rolling in and artists are looking to start the printing process, we have a few tips to help you out.

First, get your files prepped and ready with crops, bleeds, and other industry jargon. Then give it a nifty name like yourname.pinchflat.ai. This will help our lovely local printers, so they don't go crazy when they get 10 separate files identically named pinchflat.ai

Second, select a printer. We have supplied you with two awesome local printers and two out-of-town options (just in case).

NOTE: Make sure you give yourself enough time to have the posters printed so you don't pay rush fees and saves you on stress (and us.)

PRINTERS:

Shout Out Loud Prints is a local screen print show located by Grandview Ave. and SR-33. They do great work with a quick turnaround. They can also do apparel and band merchandise. Check out their Poster Price Chart for more information.

Igloo Letterpress is a local letterpress shop in Worthington. They do remarkable print work and offer a great selection of paper and custom work. They are also looking to expand! Check out their Kicker Starter Page and help spread the art-loving word.

Below is Igloo Letterpress' print guidelines for Pinchflat Artist. Aren't they helpful? :)

OUT-OF-TOWN PRINTERS:

The Half & Half - Fine printers out of Columbia, SC (close to Columbus is spelling but not in location)

Mama's Sauce - Fine printers out of Orlando, FL (not in Disney)

And of course if you have questions, give a good hard think, and if you still cannot figure it out, CONTACT the Pinchflat Team.

Extended Deadlines, Exciting Developments

Based on feedback from past and prospective artists, we've decided to extend the final submission deadline to April 1. And that is no joke, folks. Artists have four extra weeks to finalize designs and send them our way.

We originally shared a concept submission deadline of March 1. This timeline was created to provide enough time to sort through design concepts and allot for printing needs. Sometimes life catches up though and everyone can use extra time once in a while.

The final deadline for artist participation in Pinchflat 2015 will be April 1st.

Make sure you complete the application on our Submit page and shoot us your design in an attachment email to bikemonth@wildgoosecreative.com

Mapping Out What's Next

In the next two months we'll release the official event artwork (fliers galore), give the site a mini facelift, share some exciting raffle news, and gear up for the big weekend in May.

Already submitted and curious about what's next? Keep your eyes on @pinchflatcols and our Facebook page for updates.

A Peek at Pinchflats Past

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.
— Mark Twain

We're halfway through February which means 1.) spring is a little bit closer and 2.) there are two weeks left to submit your Pinchflat design. Depending on how you work, two weeks either sounds like ample time to finish up what you've been working on and submit, or procrastination has set in. Whatever column you fall in, that's ok! We're so excited to see this year's posters and are here to help bring your ideas to fruition.

Still not sure where to start? Take a look through the past four years of Pinchflat to wake up the left side of your brain.

Feel free to contact us with any questions as we near the end of our Call for Entries. Come March 1 we'll sift through the submissions and let our artists get to work printing.

Pinchflat 2015 Call for Entries

What and Why

Wild Goose Creative, in partnership with Yay Bikes! announces a call for entries to a bicycle-inspired poster show called Pinchflat 2015: 30 Local Artists / 30 Prints / $30 bucks a print.

All posters will be created by artists in Columbus or central Ohio. Artwork included in the poster show will encourage bike riding, celebrate the art and craft of bikes, or invite thought about bikes as an important way to get around our fine city of Columbus. Artwork might also be designed to persuade people to get on a bike in the first place!

Specifications

Posters should be printed with any of the following methods; silk-screened, etched, lino cut, or letterpressed. Posters sizes can be either 11×17 (12.5” x 19”) or 18x24 (19”x25”). Each poster will be priced to sell at $30 and will be displayed along with 30 other posters. Artists will be responsible for having their artwork printed (33 posters for the show (30 for sale and 3 for display)) and delivered to Paradise Garage (921 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43201) for exhibition and sale. Wild Goose Creative and Pinchflat will retain the right to handle sales of posters for the duration of the exhibition.

25% of proceeds will be retained by Wild Goose Creative and 75% will be the artist’s commission on the art work.
